Le terme anglais "Greenwashing" est utilisé pour qualifier une campagne de publicité ou une action de communication ayant pour but de présenter publiquement – et de façon parfois mensongère - une image de responsabilité environnementale. Il fait référence à l’expression "brainwashing" - littéralement "lavage de cerveau" - et peut se traduire en français par "écoblanchiment".
